Our Committment to Sustainability

As good land stewards this our promise

• We do not use pesticides or chemical weed killer anywhere.

• Our vegetable garden uses "companion planting" techniques to control unwanted insects.

• We spend laborious time hand pulling weeds.

• We have planted blooming gardens to attract vital pollinators, like bees, wasps, butterflies & moths.

• We use only plant based, environmentally safe cleaning products and toiletries.

• Our deep-spring well water is tested annually. We do not use a chlorine filter, but a UV filter.

• We compost, reuse and recycle. Our chickens and goats are great composters!

• We line-dry our personal clothes, bed linens and towels to reduce energy consumption.

• Our pasture is a natural wetland during the summer months, as our aquifer fills when the Kubli creek irrigates the valley for farming. This provides a safe habitat for amphibians. Frogs are known as "indicator species" that give valuable insight into how an ecosystem is functioning. We feel proud to have so many little hoppers!
